Be Prepared

What To Bring:

Yoga mat

Optional Items:

Blankets

Yoga blocks

Yoga straps

What To Wear:

Light, fitted exercise clothing.  Avoid very baggy pants and tops.  Oversized clothing hinders your teacher's ability to evaluate your alignment and make helpful corrections.

Also, it is customary to practice yoga with bare feet, so no need to worry about footwear!  Practicing barefoot allows your feet to grip your mat and aids in balance.

The Food Situation:

Try to avoid eating for 2 hours before class.  If you must snack, keep it light (fruit, salad or granola bar are all good options).

Drink plenty of water beforehand and bring bottled water with you.

Your First Class:

Arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes early to register and address any injuries or special needs with your instructor.

If you're thinking twice about class... just give it a try!  Everyone is welcome at yoga class.  It is normal to feel anxious about your first class... funny sounding names like "downward-facing dog" can make us all a bit apprehensive!  During class, students are focused on themselves - this is not a competitive sport.  This is an opportunity for you to do something good for yourself!  Have fun and relax... after all, it's just yoga.

If you have special needs or would like some personal instruction before joining the group, private lessons may be a good option for you.
